049 tank upright mount
The kit for either an upright or side mount ½ A tank includes; (1) tank body, (1) tank back plate, (1) clunk, (2) bulk head fittings, (1) piece of short hose, (1) piece of longer hose, (4) sheet metal screws and (4) 2-56 screws. kit
Step 1: Drill the 4 holes for mounting the engine. Drill the holes as far forward as possible into the U shaped lip of the tank. We find it easiest to hold the engine in place and use the holes in the engine as a guide rather than try to mark the holes and drill them afterwards.
Step 2: Lay out all the pieces and then assemble one end of the short piece of tubing onto the barb of the clunk and the other end onto the inside barb of one of the bulk head fittings. kit
Step 3: Place the clunk end of the tubing assembly into the lower right hand hole of the tank. This hole will be the lowest hole of the tank when it is mounted to the plane. kit
Step 4: Use a tool (we find it convenient to use a 3/16” socket on an extension) to press in the bulk head fitting until it is seated flush to the plastic. kit
Step 5: Take the second bulk head fitting and press it into the top hole on an upright mount tank or into the left hand hole on a side mount tank. This fitting is used as the vent for the tank. kit

Step 6: Mount the motor to the tank using the 4 sheet metal screws. Notice how far forward the motor is mounted. kit
Step 7: Attach one end of the longer piece of tubing onto the bulk head fitting which is attached to the clunk. Cut the tubing to the appropriate length needed for your engine. kit
Step 8: Attach the cut end to the barb on the needle valve assembly on the motor. kit
Step 9: Place the back plate on the tank and mount to the fire wall using the (4) 2-56 screws.
